Jennifer Gillan completed her Bachelor of Music ('cello) and Diploma of Education at Monash University.
She holds a Diploma of Conducting from the Kodaly Institute in Hungary and a Master of Music Studies
from the University of Queensland. Jennifer has lectured in Australia and the USA and has taught in East London.

She currently teaches aural studies at Melbourne University. She conducts the Chamber Choir and other chamber vocal ensembles as well as teaching advanced and beginner musicianship at the Junior and Senior level and VCE Music Analysis at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. Jennifer has recently completed the VCASS Musicianship Program, a publication to be used with students from Year 7 to 11.

Jennifer is Head of Choral at Melbourne Girls Grammar School and was recently a presenter at the Sibelius Music Technology in Education Conference in Melbourne, where she trained teachers on the adaptation of the interactive whiteboard for reinforcing music literacy, arranging and composing.

Jennifer teaches short courses on the aural and analytical components of the VCE Music Exam.

She was a founding member of the Young Voices of Melbourne and has conducted many choirs. She is Secretary of the Victorian branch of the Kodaly Institute of Australia and is passionate about the importance of music literacy.
